SPECIAL REPORT: Tornado of November 12, 2019

TORNADO NOVEMBER 12, 2019

Check this out! Scary!

A friend of us were traveling from Pietermaritzburg to Estcourt in Kwazulu Natal, South Africa on November 12, 2019 when she and her family encountered this tornado near New Hanover at about 17:45 GMT+2.

The black cloud that are literally meters off the ground, they observed over Hilton (part of Pietermaritzburg) and they rode under that cloud, encounter the tornado and got stuck near Howick due to a big tree that fell across the N3 (main toll road through Kwazulu Natal - a province of South Africa - connecting Durban with Johannesburg, Gauteng)  highway. They made it safely to Estcourt a few hours later after the tree was removed by emergency services.

The video was taken by her son with her cellphone. Sorry that it was taken in two different directions as he flipped the phone over to take in more of the storm halfway through the recording. It may give you a feeling of being "lifted" up by a second invisible funnel! Despite this, it gives you the feeling of being a "storm chaser".

PLEASE NOTE: If you click a video, you have to wait for it to load (video area will black out) and may have to click again after loading before it plays. Also make sure your sound is up if you want to hear the sounds in the original video. About 45 seconds of video.
